Work tasks
The mission consists of helping the installation of the new beamlines and to support the operation of the beamlines in operation. You will develop and maintain control system software and are required to develop new ideas to integrate in the MAX IV environment and to present to the staff.
You will join a trusted and open team where continuous improvement and mentorship is part of our DNA. In addition you will improve your technique and spread the knowledge on best practices of software development. By using agile and lean management you can stay focused on the software development.
Inside the KITS group, composed of network, system, hardware engineers, web and scientific software experts, we promote a devops style cross functional team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Standardise the installation of component
  • Developing hardware drivers.
  • Increasing the functionality and the reliability of the whole facility in order to realise its scientific potential.
  • Sensing the User eXperience for troubleshooting and finding simple user friendly solutions to complex problems.
  • Participating to the team planning and resource estimation as well as improving the group infrastructure.

Qualifications
In order to apply for this position you are required to have a university degree and at least two years professional experience with:

  • C++ and Python 3 programming
  • Control System Experience
  • Linux operating system development.
  • Git, unit test, CI/CD.

More merit will be given to a candidate who can demonstrate knowledge in:

  • Motion and Acquisition system
  • Electronics: DAC, ADC, GPIO, …
  • Network and System: Linux , TCP/IP and other industrial protocol

Finally it would be very valuable if in additionally you have experienced:

  • An Open source project collaboration,
  • A Software development for scientific applications,
  • An Agile team environment,
  • Or working in an international research oriented environment.

To be successful in this role you have the ability to cooperate with others, are natural service minded in the way that you have an interest, will and ability to help others and strives to deliver solutions. You are creative in finding new approaches to work-related problems and the solutions for them.
You work in a structured way in planning, organizing and prioritize the workload in an efficient way, set up and keeps time-frames.
