MAX IV operates 24 hours, 7 days a week to deliver high brightness x-ray beams to user experiments. MAX IV is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment for all its employees and users. Consequently educating and supervising all staff, external users and contractors about safety, is of great importance. This work is supported by the Safety Group at MAX IV, which comprises about 16 people organized in five areas: Security and Fire Safety, Radiation Safety, Environmental Safety, Chemical and Laboratory Safety, and Systematic Work Environment Coordination. The Safety group also updates existing and developes new safety procedures and processes to support the growing suite of beamlines in operations at MAX IV. MAX IV is now looking for a HSE Manager to lead this work.

Work duties
The HSE Manager reports to the MAX IV Director and is the line manager for the Safety Group members. The HSE manager has the responsibility to:

- Coordinate activities at MAX IV related to experimental, radiation, environmental, fire, chemical, electrical, laser, and machine safety, site security, safety training, and work environment management.
- Support the systematic safety and work environment at MAX IV Laboratory.
- Advise management on safety issues and suggest effective strategies to keep visitors, users, and staff aware and safe.
- Foster and encourage a safety-conscious culture at MAXIV.

The HSE Manager is part of the Crisis Management Group.

Requirements
- A University degree within a relevant area for the position or equivalent.
- At least 5 years working experience in a laboratory or similar environment.
- At least 3 years manager experience for a diverse team with a high level of responsibility.
- Knowledge of safety work from both a practical perspective and as a part of regulatory framework.
- Knowledge of Swedish law concerning safety and work environment.

We are looking for a candidate that has documented leadership skills, shows good judgement and is naturally service minded. This position also requires good organizational skills to balance requirements of safe facility operations with project development. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Swedish and English are also required.

Desirable
It´s an advantage if you have experience of leading the safety program at a large laboratory supporting a wide range of technical activities as well as experience with design and execution of experiments at a user research facility. We also see prior work experience in a HSE manager role as an advantage.
