Your team
The Beamline Office is a group within the Science Division at MAX IV comprising three teams that address different tasks and responsibilities. This summer work will mainly be in the Sample Environment and Detector Support (SEDS) team that supports the beamlines' maintenance, development, and installation of detectors and other crucial beamline-related instrumentation and equipment.

Would you like to work at one of the brightest light sources in the world?

Your main work tasks will be

  • Help reorganize the common labs for the SEDS team
  • Setup and prepare the x-ray test chamber to pass the safety inspection needed before it can be used.
  • Designing a simple sample environment with a tiny surface for temperature control of a ‘flake’ sample, needed for experiments on NanoMAX

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

  • Second year Physics or Engineering with an interest in engineering or x-ray science/technology.
  • High school level, computer knowledge, technical interest.

  • Electronic hardware (interlocks) and understanding compliance rules with safety would be helpful.

As a person you are organized, take initiative, and enjoy being 'hands-on'.
You must be minimum 18 years and fluent in English to apply to this position.
