Your team
You will be part of the Collaborations Team within the recently merged User Office & Industrial Relations Office Group. UO & IRO guides and supports scientists from academia and industry to best make use of the available research equipment at MAX IV. The group handles the different access procedures, gives support to our users and internal staff, as well as engages the academic and industrial user communities that could use and collaborate with MAX IV. The Collaborations Team supports our colleagues that engage in externally funded projects as well as manages a number of larger EU funded projects.

MAX IV is looking for a Research and communication coordinator for a one-year temporary position to cover a parental leave. The coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting various functions across the User Office and Industrial Relations Office at MAX IV. This position is responsible for coordinating the Collaborations team, assisting in the operation of the Grants Office, but also supports the IRO by engaging with industrial users supporting through science communication.

The assignment as research and communication coordinator at MAX IV requires an understanding of the needs and challenges that arise in the daily work of a leading research infrastructure.

Your main work tasks will be

  • Organise the Collaborations Team meetings, keep an overview of activities and support the team members
  • Assist in the operation of the Grants Office
  • Monitor and analyse the research funding landscape on national and international levels
  • Proactively communicate upcoming funding opportunities and assist in post-award management
  • Provide strategic support to researchers in preparing grant applications, particularly for EU funding programs.

In regard to Industrial Engagement and Science Communication:

  • Produce and disseminate scientific results from industrial users and collaboration partners
  • Develop industry cases and accessible technology descriptions within the MAXESS Industry Arena project
  • Craft engaging outreach materials, including texts, photos, videos, and infographics, to showcase MAX IV's capabilities.

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

  • Scientific or engineering degree
  • Experience in research funding and EU project administration
  • Experience in collaborative projects and networking
  • Strong communication skills and ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences
  • Fluent in English and Swedish.

  • Familiarity with tools such as WordPress, and web publishing
  • Experience in working with research infrastructures and international environments
  • Own research background.

MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. It will receive up to 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.
