The post will be based at the Department of Clinical Sciences in Lund.

The post will be combined with a position as specialist/consultant at the Division of Psychiatry, Skånevård Sund. The Division of Psychiatry is a joint organisation for Region Skåne’s specialised adult psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, addiction care, and child and adolescent psychiatry. Through the Division of Psychiatry, a coordinated range of care can be offered to the population of Skåne. The division has around 3 000 employees.

The Clinical Psychiatric Research Centre (VKP) is a unit within the Division of Psychiatry that collaborates with Lund University. The aim of VKP is to effectively facilitate cooperation between academia and the Division of Psychiatry in order to provide high quality care for today’s patients and develop healthcare for tomorrow’s patients.

Work duties

The work duties include activities in the field of clinical suicide research, as well as teaching on the faculty’s medical degree programme at Lund University. The appointed applicant will also be expected to perform other tasks normally associated with a professorship, such as certain administrative duties, internal and external elected office, and to represent the subject both in Sweden and internationally.

The appointed applicant will also contribute to the development of clinical psychiatry and suicide prevention in Region Skåne and work for a continued dynamic academic environment at Lund University in the subject of psychiatry. Clinical duties on a specialist level at VKP and in the Adult Psychiatry department in Lund are a part of the work duties.

Other duties may also occur.

Qualifications

A person who has demonstrated both research and teaching expertise shall be qualified for employment as a professor, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4, Section 3.

The applicant must have attained a specialisation in psychiatry, and have several years of experience of clinical work on a specialist level as well as experience of clinical leadership.

Because the post of professor is combined with a position as a medical specialist/consultant, the appointed applicant is required to be proficient in Swedish to the degree necessary for the medical profession (in accordance with the definition of the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare, which also approves equivalent knowledge of another Scandinavian language.

Assessment criteria

The assessment criteria will include the applicant’s research expertise, clinical skills, leadership and collaboration abilities and teaching experience.

The applicant is to have research, teaching and clinical expertise of significance for the subject.

In the assessment, research skills will be given particular emphasis. The applicant is to have demonstrated research skills by having attained a high national and international level as a researcher and certified competence as a research supervisor. Being a principal applicant for research funding granted in competition and having broad competence and leadership abilities concerning clinical suicide research and clinical suicide prevention are considered to be qualifications, as are extended research periods abroad.

The applicant is also to have demonstrated educational skills of significance within both teaching and supervision in the first/second and third cycles of study in psychiatry.

Particular consideration will be given in the assessment to the applicant’s documented ability to lead and develop cooperation between the University and healthcare. Furthermore, a general ability to lead and develop, administrative skills and an ability to interact with wider society are seen as additional qualifications.
