The position is based at the Department of Clinical Sciences in Malmö, combined with a position as a specialist/senior physician at the National Board of Forensic Medicine in Lund.
Work duties
The duties primarily involve teaching but also research and clinical activities as well as management assignments within the Faculty of Medicine. Teaching takes place in the first, second and third cycle, requiring good knowledge of the subject area. The position also includes research.
The holder of the post will be expected to perform other duties as well, usually associated with an appointment as senior lecturer, such as administrative duties, internal and external duties as an elected representative, and is to represent the subject nationally and internationally. Additional work duties may occur.
Qualifications
Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance states that a person shall be qualified for appointment as Senior Lecturer if he or she has demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or has corresponding research competence.
To be qualified the individual shall have completed at least five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means, unless there are valid reasons.
The applicant must have specialist expertise in the field of forensic medicine. Pursuant to Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare regulations, the person must have the knowledge in Swedish, Danish or Norwegian required to be registered for professional practice as a doctor in Sweden.
Assessment criteria
Special emphasis will be placed on the applicant’s teaching expertise. Such expertise must be demonstrated through both education and supervision in all three cycles of study.
Emphasis will also be placed on research expertise, the ability to supervise doctoral students, and administrative skills. Furthermore, the ability to attract national and/or international funding is considered a qualification. The applicant must have demonstrated research expertise by having a good national and international standing as a researcher. Ongoing national and international research cooperation will be considered significant.
Attention will also be paid to the applicant’s demonstrated leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with wider society. Furthermore, the ability to lead and develop administrative skills are considered additional qualifications.
The general qualification requirements for academic staff are being suited to and having the general ability required to complete the duties of the post well.
