Duties
The Department of Laboratory Medicine has established a strong research environment in experimental hematology that focuses on hematopoietic stem cells and their development to mature blood cells. To further strengthen and develop the research environment, we seek a holder of senior lecturer position in experimental hematology to peform top-notch research regarding the regulation of hematopoiesis and blood cell development, and to further support the environment as an expert and resource within the field.

The duties include independent research and development work, teaching and administration. The Senior Lecturer shall participate in teaching and supervision in basic courses, advanced courses, and postgraduate education. Other duties may also be added.

Eligibility
Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance states that a person shall be qualified for appointment as Senior Lecturer if he or she has demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or has corresponding research competence. 

Basis for assessment
In ranking qualified applicants, particular importance shall be attached to scientific skills within the field of blood cells and blood cell development.  The applicant shall have demonstrated scientific skill through maintaining a high national and international standard as a researcher and shall possess well substantiated scientific competence. The applicant is expected to have published papers as senior author in high-impact journals in the field and to have received substantial renewable project grants. Importance shall also be attached to teaching skills, the ability to supervise doctoral students, and administrative skills.

Teaching skills shall be demonstrated in both teaching and supervision, in both basic courses, advanced courses and postgraduate education. Proven ability in academic leadership, ability to co-operate, and proven ability to integrate with the surrounding community will also be taken into consideration. The general qualification requirements for academic staff are being suited to and having the general ability required tom complete the duties of the post well.
