Description
Particle Physics at Lund University is engaged in the ATLAS experiment at the CERN LHC, both in data analysis and in the upgrade work for the high-luminosity LHC. A large emphasis in the data analysis is on Physics Beyond the Standard Model and its Dark Matter interpretation. The upgrade work is focused on the Silicon Inner Tracker. We are also preparing for a new Dark Matter experiment, LDMX, to search for Hidden Sector light Dark Matter.
The selected candidate is expected to take a leading role in setting up the detector lab for the ATLAS upgrade and studies to design and prepare for the LDMX experiment. If possible, the candidate is also welcome to participate in the analysis of the full run-2 data sets from ATLAS.
The selected candidate will actively participate in the supervision of PhD students. The research activities are located at the Department of Physics at Lund University. Visits to CERN and SLAC will be required.

Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier. Good knowledge in spoken and written English is a requirement.
Basis of assessment
Prior experience in detector and analysis work in particle physics, collaborative skills in order to work in a large collaboration and scholarly proficiency are requirements for the employment. Programming skills in Python and C++ are of relevance for this position. You must show a high degree of research expertise as manifested in the quality of your PhD dissertation and other publications. Please include a discussion on how you see the field of Particle Physics and the future directions it can take.
