The division of Clinical Genetics is doing an exciting research project (Molecular pathogenesis of high hyperdiploid childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia) in the field of experimental clinical genetics. The project involves studies of how acute leukemia in children arises and why genetic aberrations in the leukemic cells lead to development of leukemia. Genetic analyses of patient samples from children with acute leukemia will be done, including cytogenetic studies of chromosome defects, studies of mitosis, and next generation sequencing of the leukemia genome. The main aim is to increase our insight into leukemogenesis.
