Packaging logistics is a research-intensive environment devoted to the advancement of knowledge, to motivate and co-create holistic solutions dealing with global and regional challenges – such as sustainable development. The challenges facing society are complex and the research and education required to meet these challenges need to be largely cross-boundary and international. This position will focus on the subject of Logistics and Supply Chain Management from a problem-based and multidisciplinary research point of view. Your role will not only be a source of inspiration and a facilitator of change, but a leader and driver for innovation, sustainability and competence development in the area. This means that the position builds on continuous contact and collaboration with the business community and authorities in order to achieve societal changes and renewal through knowledge development and innovation. Logistics and supply chain management is a fascinating field where digitization is a key enabler of many new and necessary innovative solutions, and is therefore an important aspect that permeates the research and education activities. The position will engage in the following topics:

  • City and rural logistics and transportation challenges, such as last mile delivery
  • Retail and E-commerce challenges, such as Omni-channel and process integration
  • Sustainable supply chain management and innovation

Work duties
The senior lecturer position is researched-focused, consisting of approximately 50% research and innovation, 40% teaching, and 10% of administration workload. In other words, the tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Conducting scientific research that meets high international standards, publishing in scholarly outlets, and communicating the results of your research to industry and to the society at large.
  • Actively seeking and obtaining external research funding for research and innovation projects as well as managing them once granted.
  • Stimulating research and innovation in the field by actively making contact, collaborating, and building networks with industry, higher education institutions, and actors in the wider society.
  • Contributing to the competence development of students by providing research-based teaching, supervision, and curriculum development for first, second and third cycles of studies, with a particular emphasis on Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the BSc and MSc levels.
  • Contributing to the PhD education by supervising doctoral students and actively participating and teaching PhD level courses.
  • Contributing to administration related to the tasks listed above.

As senior lecturer, you are encouraged to assume broader responsibilities as well as provide team leadership and strategic vision in the above listed work duties.

The position is located at Campus Helsingborg. Even though your main office location is at campus Helsingborg, you will also have an office at the Faculty of Engineering campus LTH in Lund. To contribute actively to the research and educational environment, you are expected to be present at Campus Helsingborg a minimum of three days a week, on average.

                                                                          

Qualification requirements
Appointment to the position of senior lecturer requires that the applicant has:

  • A PhD (in supply chain management or related subject) or corresponding research competence or professional expertise considered important with regard to the subject matter of the position and the work duties it involves.
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise in logistics and supply chain management.
  • Completed five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means, unless there are valid reasons.

Additional requirements:

  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Demonstrated high-quality research activities, including high-quality publications in recent years in scientific journals relevant to the subject.
  • International teaching and research experience.
  • Track record of developing courses in logistics and supply chain management, specifically at the BSc and MSc levels.
  • Proven ability to apply for and attract research funding.
  • Experiences in participating in university administration duties.

Assessment criteria
When assessing the applicants, special importance will be given to research and teaching expertise in the subject. The research and teaching expertise will be assessed equally. 

The appointment as senior lecturer is based on the following assessment criteria:

  • A good national and international standing as a researcher. The requirement for international experience shall be assessed with consideration to the character and traditions of the subject.
  • Good teaching ability, including a good ability to conduct, develop and lead teaching and other educational activities on different levels and using a variety of teaching methods.
  • Ability to supervise doctoral students to achieve a PhD.
  • Ability to collaborate with the wider society and communicate your activities.
  • A good general ability to lead and develop teaching, research, and innovation activities.

Consideration will also be given to the applicant’s ability to cooperate, his or her drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research, education and innovation in the Department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
