The position is required because of significant increases in research using pluripotent stem cells in local area researcher programs. As an advanced technology service provider researchers rely on the core’s ability to provide novel iPS cell lines that cannot easily be set up in one’s own laboratory. We currently do not have sufficient personnel to complete the increased orders and thus intend to expand our capabilities by including weekend work.

Job assignments:

Provide support to current operations at the ES/iPS core facility, namely towards the generation of novel patient specific induced pluripotent stem cell lines. The position primarily involves tissue culture activities including working using sterile techniques for media changing, cell colony isolation and propagation, and cell splitting of iPS cell lines. The position requires the hired person is willing to working half-days on one day of the weekend, and possibly an additional half-day during the regular work week (precise schedule to be discussed).

Required education, experiences and skills:

B.Sc.
High competence in cell culture techniques.
