Subject description
Nanoelectronics and Circuit implementation in the millmeter  wave Area: Research work will consist of conducting the circuit implementation based on the processes and technologies present at Lund University in the research group. In particular, we intend to use the back-end-of-line technology (BEOL) developed within the framework of INSIGHT to develop unique types of circuits used in radar and future communication technologies with focus around and over 100 GHz. The work includes both utilizing process technology for the area and leading and taking responsibility for high-frequency characterization within the subject area, both in terms of equipment and measurements. Cooperation with other research initiatives at the department and at Lund University and surrounding companys activities are assessed positively.

Work duties
Employment as an associate senior lecturer is a career development position and  aims for the holder to develop his or her independence as a researcher and educator. The work duties mainly involve research and teaching. The position shall include the opportunity for five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning.

Research in the subject area.

  • Basic education, at advanced level and research level.
  • Supervision of graduate students and doctoral students.
  • Applications for external research funding.
  • Collaboration with companies and society.
  • Administration linked to the tasks above.

Qualification requirements
Appointment to associate senior lecturer requires that the applicant has

  • a PhD, or acquired corresponding research expertise.

Priority should be given to applicants who have completed their degree or acquired the corresponding expertise no more than five years before the last date for applications.

Additional requirements:

  • Very good oral and written proficiency in Swedish and English.
  • Documented experience of characterization of millimeter wave components
  • Documented experience with the design of millimeter wave circuits
  • Documented experience in the processing of components and circuits in a cleanroom environment

Assessment criteria
For appointments to associate senior lecturer, the following shall form the assessment criteria:

  • A good ability to develop and conduct research.
  • Teaching skills.

Consideration will also be given to ability to co-operate, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research, education and innovation within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of 6 years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with Chapter 4 Section 12a§ HEA.

Promotion to senior lecturer in Electrical Engineering with Focus on Nanoelectronics and Circuit Implementation in the Millimeter Wave Frequency Range

During the period of employment, an associate senior lecturer can apply for appointment to a permanent position as senior lecturer if he or she has the required qualifications listed below, and is deemed to be suitable. An associate senior lecturer can only apply for promotion once.

Qualification requirements:
Appointment to senior lecturer requires that the applicant has:

  • A PhD or corresponding research competence or professional expertise considered important with regard to the subject matter of the post and the work duties it will involve.
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise.
  • Completed five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means.

Additional requirements:

  • Good ability to co-operate, independence and drive.
  • In-depth experience in the characterization of millimeter wave components
  • In-depth experience with the design of millimeter wave circuits
  • In-depth experience in the manufacture of components and circuits in a cleanroom environment
  • Ability to actively and successfully seek external funding either independently or in collaboration with other researchers within the institution
  • Ability to contribute to innovation and renewal of characterization opportunities within the measurement area
  • Ability to supervise students at the master's level and to assist in the supervision of PhD students
  • Proven good ability to collaborate with researchers and students in the area at Lund University
  • Contribution to the pedagogical development in the field.

Assessment criteria
When assessing the applicants, special importance will be given to research and teaching expertise.

For appointments to senior lecturer, the following shall form the assessment criteria:

  • A good national and international standing as a researcher. The requirement for international experience shall be assessed with consideration to the character and traditions of the subject.
  • Good teaching ability, including a good ability to conduct, develop and lead teaching and other educational activities on different levels and using a variety of teaching methods.
  • An ability to supervise doctoral students to achieve a PhD.
  • An ability to collaborate with wider society and communicate his or her activities.
  • A good general ability to lead and develop activities.
