Duties
The doctoral programme amounts to 240 credits, the equivalent of four years of full time studies. The programme formally ends with the doctoral candidate publicly defending her/his published doctoral thesis. The primary obligation of the holder of a limited tenure doctoral position is to successfully fulfill her/his third cycle education ending with an approved Ph.D. thesis.

Regulations for limited tenure employment as a doctoral student are found in Higher Education Ordinance (chapter 5, 1-7§§). Only those persons who have been formally accepted to doctoral studies by the department can be eligible for limited tenure employment as a doctoral student.

In addition to their own doctoral studies doctoral students can be required to perform departmental duties such as teaching, research and administrative work in accordance with the terms of the regulation, amounting to 20 percent of full time.
The position is associated with the Center for Research on Consciousness and Anomalous Psychology (CERCAP) and supervised by Professor Etzel Cardeña, The position will involve work in one or both of the following Projects:

1) The propensity to have anomalous experiences such as ostensible transcendent or psychic experiences, and its association to enhanced or decreased psychological function depending on developmental history and interaction of personality traits.

2) Neurophenomenology of spontaneous and induced states of consciousness . Experience in EEG data acquisition and analysis, ideally including non-linear complex analyses, would be an asset.

Interest in collaborating in ongoing experimental research on psi phenomena, as well as in other Projects of CERCAP, will be strongly encouraged. The doctoral student is expected to be present and actively participate in the research and teaching environment at the department, as well as in the everyday activities of the project, including reporting regularly to Professor Cardeña, who can supervise in either English or Swedish.

Eligibility
Students with basic eligibility for third-cycle studies have completed a second-cycle degree, or have completed courses for at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits are from second-cycle courses, or have acquired largely equivalent knowledge in some other way, in Sweden or abroad.

The employment of doctoral students is regulated according to the Swedish Code of Statues 1998: 80. Only those who are or have been admitted to PhD-studies may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment to a doctoral studentship is made, the ability of the student to benefit from PhDstudies shall primarily be taken into account.

In addition to devoting themselves to their studies, those appointed to doctoral studentships may be required to work with educational tasks, research and administration, in accordance with specific regulations in the ordinance.
