Job assignments
The duties of the post include both teaching and research. A limited amount of administrative work is also involved, and this could be expanded to more extensive managerial and administrative duties depending on needs and suitability. Teaching is in both Swedish and English on Bachelor´s and Master´s programmes. At present, the department offers three different degree programmes: MSc Strategic Communication; BSc Strategic Communication; and BSc Strategic Communication and Digital Media.

This position involves teaching on strategic communication in digital media, web publication, internet analysis, search engine optimization, and quantitative methods.

In addition to teaching and supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s students, the successful candidate will also take responsibility for the development, management and administration of courses at Bachelor’s and Master’s level. Since we place strong emphasis on continual development, an interest in educational development and renewal is essential. Research and professional development comprise at least 20 per cent of the post. Applicants are to be able to work as independent and active researchers, and the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the shared research environment at the department. The Department of Strategic Communication has a strong interest in collaboration with wider society. Establishing contacts and networks is therefore included within the framework of both teaching and research, as well as participation in and leading of external education and research projects as required. The ability to teach in English is essential. If the successful candidate does not speak Swedish or another Scandinavian language, he or she is expected to acquire the requisite skills in Swedish within four years of appointment.

Eligibility/Entry Requirements
Eligibility for teaching appointments is regulated in Chapter 4 Sections 3-4 of the Higher Education Ordinance (http://www.uhr.se/sv/Information-in-English/Laws-and-regulations/The-Higher-Education-Ordinance/#4). In order to be eligible a candidate must hold a PhD or equivalent international degree within the relevant field. Completed training of at least five weeks in teaching and learning in higher education is also a requirement. Applicants must be able to demonstrate documented teaching expertise and experience of teaching and research in the field of strategic communication.

Basis of Assessment
The assessment criteria for teaching appointments are regulated in Chapter 4 Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. For this appointment, consideration will also be given to the sections pertaining to appointment of teaching posts in the Lund University Strategic Plan (http://www.lu.se/o.o.i.s/4198) and the Lund University Rules and Regulations on Academic Appointments (http://www5.lu.se/o.o.i.s/186). In assessing candidates, both research and teaching expertise will be taken into account, in particular within strategic communication and digital media or closely related fields. Areas of particular relevance include strategic communication in a digital context, including applied methods. An ability to teach in both English and Swedish is required. Previous experience of teaching strategic communication is desirable. An ability to teach and research on big data is also desirable.

The Department of Strategic Communication is a small department where collegial interaction and the contributions of each individual play a significant role. Consideration will therefore be given to good teamworking skills and initiative, as well as how the applicant´s experience and skills are considered to complement and contribute to ongoing and planned education, research and external engagement.
