Job description

The Department of Economic History at Lund University is hiring 1 project assistant for the project “The long run effects of returnees from the emigration to America on Swedish entrepreneurship“ (https://entrepreneurshipreturnees.wordpress.com/). The assistant will, in this part of the project, primarily work with modern data in order to compile datasets on entrepreneurship from large databases in Statistic Sweden’s MONA-system. The work entails working with coordinate information in Statistic Sweden data such that the analyses can be undertaken using geographical units as the unit of analysis. The assistant may also be providing analysis results from the compiled material.

Requirements and merits

The work requires knowledge and experience of working with large databases, particularly desirable is experience with MONA. Ability to work in Stata is a requirement. Experience with SQL and geographical coordinate system is desirable, as is experience with statistical analysis, in particular regression analysis. Most likely you have at least bachelor’s degree, even though this is not a requirement. Experience of writing reports and/or essays is meriting.

Consideration will be given to good teamwork, accuracy and independence, ability to analyze and solve problems, and how the applicant, through his or her experience and competence, is expected to supplement and strengthen the research group to which he / she will be included in the institution.

Terms

Time-limited employment, 6 months, 50% with start date as soon as possible / according to agreement.
