Job description:
The Department of Political Science advertises a position as researcher within sustainability and governance. The position is related to a range of projects that focus on the transition to a zero carbon society by 2050. The researcher will be expected to contribute to research on the politics and governance of transitions in key sectors, such as plastics, meat/diary and steel. The work includes gathering and analysing the dynamics of innovation and inertia in the sectors, for example in terms of value chains, investment patterns, political economy, power structures, geographies, materialities, and key agents of change (companies, public organisations etc). The position include work on how different climate futures are imagined through scenarios, modelling, visions, road-maps and literary fiction.

Qualifications:
We seek candidates with a PhD in Political Science or related discipline (e.g. Geography, Sociology, Anthropology, STS, Transition Studies), and competence within the areas outlined in the job description above. Research skills and academic promise will be the main selection criteria. Proven experience of engaging with theories on socio-technical transitions is a merit, as well as proven experience of working with different techniques of futuring, such as from within scenario studies, design sciences and literary fiction. The ability to work and communicate in a multi-disciplinary environment is also very important.

This is a fixed-term employment, duration of 1 year.
