Job assignments
The researchers will conduct research in the project "Swedish regional economic development and transformation: past, present and future". The research assignments include issues relating to Swedish development after the early industrialization up to today. The focus will be to analyze which factors have been central to Swedish regional growth in different periods, and how Swedish cities and counties developed their production profiles over time. The research agenda is quantitative and focuses on building long time series and analyzing them using econometric methods. In large part of the research project, analyzes with geographic software such as GIS will be used. The holder of the service is expected to attend the Department of Economic History's various activities, such as seminars and workshops. The employment involves a limited amount, max 20%, tuition and / or supervision of master's and master's theses.
Basis of Assessment
Scholarly proficiency is the main requirement for employment.
The holder of the position should be competent and experienced enough to be able to carry out independent research in Economic History. The focus area of analysis will be historical economic geography. Applicants with documented interest in fields relating to regional analysis, urbanization, geographical response to policy interventions are especially encouraged to apply. To be qualified for employment as researcher, an individual must hold a PhD in Economic History or related discipline (e.g. Economics, Sociology, Economic Geography, History). Applications will also be accepted from persons who have not yet completed their PhD, but this condition must be satisfied at the time of employment.
For appointment, the candidate must have demonstrated a high degree of research expertise as manifested in the quality of the PhD dissertation and other publications. Documented skills in quantitative analysis and geographical software are a merit. We also look for communicative skills and the ability to interact with the research community and building networks.
The research tasks must be carried out independently, but also in cooperation with other project members.
The application must include a research plan where the applicant presents her/his own ideas for research to be conducted.
