The co-worker will carry out experiments to address a possible role of the kinase SIK2 in adipocyte autophagy. This will be done using state of the art techniques for the study of autophagic flux, LC3 interaction and more. Adipocytes, mainly of human origin, in which SIKs have been genetically or pharmacologically modulated will be used. He/she will also perform a global analysis of which genes are regulated downstream of SIK isoforms in human adipocytes. The latter will be performed by RNA sequencing of adipocytes treated with SIK inhibitors.

The assistant researcher will also apply for continued funding for the project. He/she will potentially also supervise a bachelor- or master student.

The applicant should hold a PhD in Human Biology or equivalent, and have experience from research abroad (outside Sweden).

Robust knowledge of the subject autophagy, in particular in relation to metabolic disease, is required. The applicant also needs to have practical experience from work with autophagy, such as LC3-interactions and confocal microscopy analysis of autophagic flux, is required. Experience from presenting such work orally and in writing is also required.

Moreover, the applicant should possess the ability to work with a large level of independence and have demonstrated experience from applying for grants.
