Job duties
Duties include initiating and managing research in economic geography and related fields, conducting individual research, teaching and supervision in the doctoral program and at other levels, taking part in the development of courses and programs, as well as administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications
According to chapter 4 and section 3 in the Higher Education Ordinance, a person who has demonstrated research and teaching expertise shall be qualified for employment. Research and teaching should be current and principally within the area of economic geography. Research expertise is to be demonstrated through independent research initiatives that to a significant degree exceeds the qualification required for appointment as an Associated Professor/reader in terms of quality and quantity.

Assessment criteria
The assessment criteria for appointments of professors are stated in the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4 Section 3, and in Rules and Regulations for Academic Appointments, reg. no STYR 2017/1906.

A general requirement for appointment as full professor is outstanding research and teaching skills. Special emphasis will be placed on the ability to publish research of high international standard, to supervise doctoral students and the ability to develop and lead externally funded research projects, in collaboration with other researchers. The candidate must have successfully completed supervision of at least one doctoral project. In assessing the teaching expertise, regard will be given to previous experience of teaching, supervising and examination in the first, second and third cycles as well as experiences of implementing, developing and evaluating courses and programs. Previous experience of academic leadership will be taken into account.

The extent to which the qualifications of the applicant will complement and reinforce current research and teaching in economic geography, and contribute to the future development of the department, will be taken into account. The research and teaching profile of the department is described on its website (www.keg.lu.se). An ability to teach in English and to work in an internationalized environment is required. A successful candidate who does not speak a Scandinavian language is encouraged by the department to acquire and, in the long run, master proficiency in Swedish.

Finally, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the day-to-day activities in the department and the faculty.

The application is to be submitted electronically to the Lund University e-recruitment portal. It is to be designed in accordance with the instructions of the Faculty of Social Science, which can be accessed on the Faculty website, http://www.sam.lu.se/en/about-the-faculty/job-openings or received from recruitment manager Anders Kirchner, anders.kirchner@sam.lu.se
