Research and teaching should be current and principally within the area of economic geography. Research expertise is to be demonstrated through independent research initiatives that to a significant degree exceeds the qualification required for appointment as an Associated Professor/reader in terms of quality and quantity.
Assessment criteria
The assessment criteria for appointments of professors are stated in the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4 Section 3, and in Rules and Regulations for Academic Appointments, reg. no STYR 2017/1906.

Special emphasis will be placed on the ability to publish research of high international standard, to supervise doctoral students and the ability to develop and lead externally funded research projects, in collaboration with other researchers. The candidate must have successfully completed supervision of at least one doctoral project. In assessing the teaching expertise, regard will be given to previous experience of teaching, supervising and examination in the first, second and third cycles as well as experiences of implementing, developing and evaluating courses and programs. Previous experience of academic leadership will be taken into account.
The extent to which the qualifications of the applicant will complement and reinforce current research and teaching in economic geography, and contribute to the future development of the department, will be taken into account. The research and teaching profile of the department is described on its website (www.keg.lu.se). An ability to teach in English and to work in an internationalized environment is required. A successful candidate who does not speak a Scandinavian language is encouraged by the department to acquire and, in the long run, master proficiency in Swedish.
