Job description
Genetic epidemiologic studies are ongoing to identify the genetic determinants of osteoporosis and fracture. For this we use large, extensively phenotyped cohorts of young adult women and elderly women at high risk of fracture. One important aspect of the research focusses on the genetic variants underlying attainment of peak bone density in youth and the implications for future bone health. The analyses require familiarity with large datasets and expertise in handling big data.
Qualification requirements
A PhD and 2-4 years postdoctoral experience are required. The applicant must have a strong background in genetic epidemiology and statistical genetics, particularly analysis of large scale genome-wide genotyping datasets and the use of Mendelian Randomization to investigate causality. Competence in R is requested and an additional merit is experience in bone genetics.
The applicant should have a strong publication record with at least three articles as first author and demonstrate good communication skills. The applicant is expected to contribute to and work productively in a team, while also showing initiative and an ability to work independently. Fluent English is essential.
