Arbetsuppgifter
The Department of Food Technology seeks two biomedical analysts (BMA) or laboratory engineers. The work tasks includes laboratory work in research projects conducted at the Department of Food Technology, engineering and Nutrition. The projects aim at optimizing health effects of food, with particular focus on the metabolic syndrome and neurodegenerative diseases. Analyzes included are routine analyzes of blood and tissue samples from human and animal experiments, such as ELISA and PCR (gene expression). Also analysis of intestinal microbiota with DNA sequencing is included, as well as biochemical characterization of food. Further included is work related to animal studies (mice and rats), as well as human interventions, where we study effects on metabolic markers of novel foods and food concepts on healthy people. The appointment involves close collaboration with industry partners, where new food prototypes are investigated in a collaboration Project.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a biomedical analysts degree, laboratory engineer, or equivalent, as well as experience of laboratory work according to the above tasks. You should be able to take responsibility and have easy to work in team. Experience of microbiota sequencing is desirable but no requirement, as well as experience of conducting animal/human studies. Administration through gavage to mice and rats is meritorious. Experience with biochemical analysis of food as well as statistical analyzes is also a merit. One of the applicant should have good Swedish and English written and oral skills in order to be able to participate the human studies. For the second applicant, English in writing and oral skills is sufficiently.

Terms
The contracts relate to full time (100%) fixed-term employment for 12 months. The title depends on whether the applicant has a BMA degree or not.
