Lund University GIS Centre at the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science is one of the World’s leading centres in thefield of Geographical Infromation Science. Besides strong scientific networks in Sweden, the centre has large international networks in Europe, USA, Australia, Africa, Middle East, and Central Asia. GIS Centre has been involved in several national and international projects funded or supported by e.g EU, Swedish resaerch agencies, and international organizations such as WHO. The GIS Center is going to expand its resaerch activities in the area of processing and analysis of VGI as well as social media data. The aim of this call is to employ a researcher with a very high scientific competence to join our research group and increase the quality of research by producing more/better results.

Tasks
The main duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Conduct research and publish in high-quality journals.
  • Present and discuss novel ideas to the research group.
  • Present research results to the wider research community.
  • Contribute to training, scientific mentoring and supervision of students.
  • Develop useful timelines and milestones based on the goals of the research and development programs.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals to apply for research projects.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Geomatics, Geographic Information Science, computer science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience with VGI and social media data analysis and processing.
  • Demonstrated experience with GIS, spatio-temporal analysis and machine learning techniques.
  • Track record of publications in the field.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, including those within a multi-disciplinary group.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and technologies such as Python, R, JavaScript, and Node.js.
