A post-doctoral fellow is required in to participate in a multi-investigator initiative exploring stem cell states and dynamics in the blood system. The individual will contribute to the broad aims of the consortium and be individually responsible for a programme of work that focuses on the transcriptional state of stem cells and their progeny and how this is influenced by metabolic state and age and impacts function.<

Work duties

The post holder will be responsible for designing and performing experiments on murine and human HSC in line with the motivation described above. The individual will be part for a broader team but will predominantly work individually since the PI is UK based. The individual will be expected to perform all experimental aspects of the study including molecular, cellular and organismic approaches. These include analyses of transcription in vitro and in vivo, flow cytometry, metabolic assays and stem cell transplantation as well as other in vitro or in vivo analyses of haematopoiesis. The individual should be able to write and apply for supplementary grant income. The individual will be required to interact with a London based group via regular visits to the UK and through skype or other remote communications platforms.

Qualification requirements

Required education

BSc (or equivalent) and PhD in relevant biological science discipline

Required experiences and skills

FACS analysis and cell sorting, in vitro and in vivo analyses of blood stem cells and their progeny including transcriptional and metabolic approaches in the context of limiting cell numbers.
