The Department of Astronomy and Theoretical Physics invites applicants to a Postdoctoral fellow position in Theoretical Astrophysics.

Theoretical astrophysics at Lund Observatory encompasses planet formation and dynamics, galaxy formation, galactic dynamics and evolution, star formation and dynamics, high-energy astrophysics, and binary stellar evolution. We have strong observational links, including involvement in the ESA missions Gaia, CHEOPS, PLATO, 4MOST and LISA.

We are seeking a postdoc having a background within numerical models of galaxy formation and evolution or star formation.

The position is for two years, with funding secured for a potential third year (2+1 years). The position is available from January 2019, but starting date as late as August 2019 is possible.

Description of work

The postdoc will work in collaboration with the galaxy theory group in Lund, and is also encouraged to define their own research.

Qualifications

Postdoctoral positions are research-focused appointments intended as the first stage of a science career. The applicants should, at the start of the contract, hold a PhD in astronomy, astrophysics or a related field. The PhD should have been obtained within three years prior to the deadline for the application.
