Researcher in landscape ecotoxicology
We offer a research position in landscape ecotoxicology, with a focus on pollinators and pollination, at the Department of Biology, Lund University. The researcher will work in the project “Evaluating Indirect Effects of Climate Change on Pollinators and Pollination Services through Pesticide Exposure”. The project aims to generate a knowledge base on how to manage agricultural landscapes to support pollinators, useful for farmers, beekeepers and policy makers. Focus is on evaluating how land use relates to bee forage resources and pesticide exposure and how these factors influence their populations and pollination services. This will be done by combining landscape ecological experiments and individual-based modelling.

Job DescriptionThe researcher is expected to take responsibility for coordinating and executing parts of the field work, set up the study system, communicating with farmers and beekeepers, use available data to parametrize individual based bumble bee models and lead analysis and writing scientific publications. The work also includes communication with field assistants and there will be possibility to supervise MSc students.The researcher is also expected to participate in the research group Biodiversity and Conservation Science and the strategic research area BECC (Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate), which is financing the project. Qualifications
We are searching for a PhD in ecology, ecotoxicology, physical geography, environmental science, agricultural science or similar with a strong background in research on environmental consequences of climate and land use change. Experience of conducting landscape ecological studies, work with geographical information systems or individual- based models, as well as excellent skills in written and verbal communication in English and a driver’s license are requirements for the position. Documented previous experiences of using the NetLogo modelling environment and studies of pollinators/pollination is meriting. The person is also expected to be organized and be able to communicate with farmers, beekeepers and students.

To be eligible for the position you should have successfully completed a PhD degree. The main criteria for evaluation of candidates is scientific skills and the potential to contribute to the research project.
