Language as a tool for understanding consumer attitudes and improving the social impact of sustainable products

This interdisciplinary project at the Centre for Languages and Literature, Lund University combines insights from language technology, linguistics and management studies. The goal is to chart consumer attitudes towards sustainable products in order to get a better grasp of why consumers opt for sustainable products and how they evaluate them afterwards. We analyse consumers’ descriptions and assessments of their experience with the products and account for what sensory descriptors and the evaluative expressions there are in relation to the sociodemographic profiles. The purpose of this project is to contribute to the knowledge about consumer post-experiences about sustainable products in order to improve our understanding of how consumers of various social profiles react towards the market of sustainable products. The project will thus contribute not only to our knowledge about consumer satisfaction, but also to product assessment, language use, and the social impact of sustainable products to the different social profiles included in the study.
