The International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) is an international and interdisciplinary centre of excellence at Lund University. We advance knowledge on how to catalyse the transition to low-carbon and resource efficient economies across different levels of governance and management. We conduct research across the themes of international and national policy intervention, urban governance and experimentation, business management and practice, and consumption governance.

Subject description

Urban governance and experimentation for a transition to low-carbon and resource-efficient economies

To meet the challenges of urban transformation, we have to develop new knowledge and new methods relating to urban governance and planning. State of the art research, planning and practice calls for improved cooperation between academia and practitioners in a collaborative manner. New methods for public participation, collaboration between practitioners and researchers, and the involvement of the business sphere are needed. New processes for more systematic learning are required for creating progression of know-how in connection with sustainable urban development. In this context, special attention is given to urban governance and nature-based solutions (NBS) for a sustainable transformation of the built environment. 

 

Work duties

The duties involved in the posistion is to conduct research, teaching and administration.

The prospective candidate should perform research and should be familiar with theories of governance, innovation, climate change adaptation and/or mitigation and this context learning processes, as well as social science research methods (both qualitative and quantitative).

The educational programmes at IIIEE involve both distance and on-site teaching, multi-disciplinary assignments, applied tasks with actors in society, work in multi-lingual settings, and interaction with multiple nationalities. The candidate is expected to teach in Masters programmes run by the IIIEE in English. 

The prospective candidate should perform educational related administration at IIIIEE.

 

Qualification requirements

Appointment as a lecturer requires that the applicant has:

Completed a second-cycle degree or acquired corresponding knowledge and has other skills of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve.

Demonstrated teaching expertise.

  • Completed five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means.

Additional requirements:

  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Add further requirements for the position, such as other language skills, other specific experience or knowledge, etc.

 

Assessment criteria

For appointments to lecturer, the following shall form the assessment criteria:

  • Good subject knowledge of relevance to the post and the duties it will involve.
  • Good teaching ability including a good ability to develop and pursue teaching and other educational activities on different levels and using a variety of teaching methods.
  • Very good professional experience or other experience of relevance to the post.

 

Other assessment criteria:

Capacity to independently carry out and successfully finalise research. Ability to create their own research networks and to write and disseminate high quality academic papers. The candidate shall be able to and interested in working within a multidisciplinary research group and co-operating with societal stakeholders and knowledge institutes. Experience with organising conferences and workshops. Work experience with various societal stakeholders (e.g. policy makers, industry, businesses and community groups) Experience of teaching and supervising Masters students Swedish language skills 

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
