Lund University, LTH,

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top universities. The University has around 47 000 students and more than 8 800 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

Excellence in academia through gender equality

At LTH, we believe heterogeneous groups contribute to create more creative environments – an important element when we together explore and create to benefit the world.

We aim to be an attractive employer for candidates whose gender is underrepresented and we work hard to achieve equality at the Faculty of Engineering, Lund University. With this end in view, we are now making a long-term commitment to inspire more women to engage in male dominated research areas, and vice versa.

We offer to all of our new and recently employed associate senior lecturers an appealing career program – LTH Career Academy – that will support the participants in their career path within academia and strengthen their teaching and leadership skills.

Scope

Full time

Subject

Experimentel atomic physics, aimed towards spectroscopy with ultrashort, coherent light pulses from infrared to extreme ultraviolet.

Subject description

Experiments aiming to generate, control and apply coherent extreme ultraviolet (XUV) light to control ultrafast processes. The coherent XUV light may be produced either through high-order harmonic generation or at free electron laser facilities.

Work duties

Employment as an associate senior lecturer is a career development position and  aims for the holder to develop his or her independence as a researcher and educator. The work duties mainly involve research and teaching. The position shall include the opportunity for five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning.

This specifically includes demonstrated experimental experiences of high-order harmonic generation and the use of ultrashort, coherent XUV pulses to study coherent optical processes. Experience of control of coherent XUV light (either from free electron lasers or through high-order harmonic generation) will be central in the ranking of the applications.

The evaluation of the pedagogical skills will be based on teaching at basic and advance level courses and the supervision of master students and PhD students.
