Researcher in Building/Urban Physics with the focus on Impact Assessment of Climate Change on the Energy Performance of Urban Areas

Subject description
This project intends to expand the impact assessment of climate change from building scale to urban scale, assessing the probable future conditions for the energy system combined with buildings in urban areas. More than climate change, some uncertainties and affecting factors that affect the future energy solutions will be considered such as intensified urbanization, urban compactness and morphology. Energy demand of urban areas will be assessed thoroughly by numerical modelling of buildings as the demand/generation nodes of the energy grid. Through applying statistical techniques and probabilistic analyses, results should illustrate the impacts of climate change and weather uncertainties on the energy performance of buildings in urban areas. By the help if multi-criteria optimization techniques and decision making tools, optimized energy efficient solutions should be provided for the future urban designs and morphologies, considering different climate zones.
