Job description
Lund University announces one limited-duration (four years) position as associate senior lecturer in econometrics. The positions are full time, with placement at the Department of Economics, School of Economics and Management. The Department runs several master programs of which the MSc in Finance is ranked among top 50 in the world by Financial Times.

Terms of employment
The successful candidates must have proven competence and experience in the field of econometrics.

The positions involve both teaching (40%) and research (60%), and administrative tasks can also be included. Teaching can be at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. The salary range is between SEK 460,000 – 520,000 per year depending on qualifications. The salary will be renegotiated and at a competitive level within the specialization if and when the candidate is promoted to senior lecturer.

Qualification requirements
Qualified to be employed as an Associate Senior Lecturer in econometrics, is a person who has been awarded a Ph.D. degree in economics or finance not more than five years before the application deadline. The positions include teaching in English and therefore requires a good command of the English language. The research environment at the Department of Economics is highly international and the working language of the Department is English. While international applications are encouraged teaching at the introductory level is in Swedish why language skills in Swedish are merit. Ability to develop and implement high-quality research and good and broad teaching skills are the basis for the assessment of the position.

The School of Economics and Management strives for a balance between research and teaching in all positions. Therefore, in the selection process equal weight will be given to scientific and pedagogical accomplishment.

In the overall evaluation of scientific skills, particular weight will be given to the applicant’s publications or potential to publish in highly ranked journals with the international peer-review system. The candidate should have either at least one published or forthcoming paper oriented towards econometrics in a journal at the A-level or at least 2 publications at B*-level (for classification of journals see the list below).

The overall evaluation of pedagogical qualifications includes teaching experience and pedagogical skills.

The department will favor candidates who can document successful theoretical research within the field of panel data econometrics.

A Ph.D. degree or experience of two years or more at the post-doctoral level from outside of the School of Economics and Management is strong merit.

Promotion to Senior Lecturer
An associate senior lecturer can apply for promotion to a permanent position as a senior lecturer if he or she fulfills the qualification requirements (see below). Applications must be submitted to the School of Economics and Management after three years and six months of the employment at the latest.

Qualification requirements and criteria for promotion
The requirements for employment as a senior lecturer are:

- Scientific skills. The candidate qualifies for promotion during a limited period, called the tenure qualification period. This period starts the date the position begins and ends when the position terminates. Only publications with an acceptance date during this period are qualifying. Promotion criteria consist of two conditions:

Condition I (high-quality publication). One of the following sub-conditions needs to be met: i) 2 A publications ii) 1 A and 2 B* iii) 1 A* (for classification of journals see attachment).

Condition II (productivity and independence): The candidate should have obtained at least 16 points based on journals ranked as B or higher. (The rules for attributing point to publications are provided in the attachment.)

The majority of publications satisfying Condition I and II should belong to the field of Economics and Finance

- Teaching skills. For promotion, the applicant requires good course evaluations and active participation in pedagogical development. The ability to teach and supervise at different levels will be an important criterion for promotion.

- The candidate is expected to have experience corresponding to 1500 hours of teaching (“clock hours”). To be promoted the candidate should have education in teaching and learning in higher education of at least 7.5 ECTS.

. - “Citizenship” – in order to be promoted an active and committed presence in the daily activities at the department and its collaboration with society at large is required.
