Lund University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Physics

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top universities. The University has around 47 000 students and more than 8 800 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

Work duties The Division of Solid State Physics, is now seeking researcher who will be responsible for conducting a process development project within nanoimprint lithography and its applications. This involves experimental work in the cleanrooms of Lund Nano Lab (LNL) with new materials for nanoimprint stamps and for high-resolution pattern transfer, characterization of samples and detailed analysis of the obtained results. The project implies also a close collaboration with other researchers, both within and outside the Division of Solid State Physics and NanoLund. The project has a relatively short duration with the expected closing date in April 2019.

Responsibilities will include:

  • A systematic work with polymer materials using nanoimprint lithography, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, atomic layer deposition and ellipsometry.
  • Analysis of the obtained results and writing up reports with recommendations.
  • In close collaboration with other researchers and research engineers at LNL to prepare detailed specifications of the newly developed nanoimprint processes.
  • Development and preparation of test samples using nanoimprint and electron beam lithography for the present project and for other projects.

Qualification requirements The position as a Researcher requires that you have a doctoral degree in Nanotechnology. The following documented experiences and qualifications are also required:

  • Hands-on experience in nanoimprint lithography and pattern transfer
  • Knowledge of basic semiconductor processing principles
  • A license to operate in the LNL cleanroom
  • Licenses to operate the following equipment in LNL: nanoimprint lithography, SEM, ellipsometry, electron beam lithography
  • Proficiency in English including the ability to write technical documentation
  • Excellent communication skills and team-oriented approach

Assessment criteria and other qualifications Further, these additional qualifications and experience would be beneficial:

  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor process development
  • Experience with reactive ion etching techniques
  • Experience with deposition (evaporation, chemical vapor and atomic layer deposition)
  • Ability to operate complicated processing equipment

We expect you to be self-motivated and have an ability to prioritize and handle multiple requirements. In the selection of the successful candidate, much emphasis will be placed on hand-on experience, interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with other researchers.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

With this recruitment, we hope to create the required knowledge to develop nanoimprint infrastructure at LNL for use in a number of research projects.

Terms of employment Temporary employment, 100 %, 2019-02-01 – 2019-04-30.
