Job description

As the facility manager the applicant will be leading the StemTherapy Electrophysiology Core Facility at Stem Cell Centre, Lund University. The duties include advising scientists regarding electrophysiological recordings from cultured cells and acute tissue slices, designing, performing, analysing and reporting of electrophysiological experiments. StemTherapy Electrophysiology Core interact with a variety of different groups, mainly working in the field of neuroscience. As the facility manger is also involved in the development of the Electrophysiology Core by keeping an eye open for new techniques and/or technical approaches and implementing these, in case of need.

Qualifications – REQUERMENTS

The applicant should be experienced electrophysiologist, with a PhD degree in the field of neuroscience or stem cell research. In addition, hands on experience with patch clamp electrophysiology from acute brain slices, is needed.

Qualifications – MERITORIOUS

Solid knowledge of ion channels and their functions is desirable.

Hands on experience with MEA recordings or, alternatively field recordings, are added value. Some knowledge or experience of optogenetic tools in combination with patch clamp recordings is an advantage, calcium imaging, ideally in combination with either whole cell patch clamp recordings or MEA recordings, will be also advantage.

Personal characteristics

As a person the successful applicant should be able to work in an independent manner and have a high degree of flexibility, being a team player, with good communication skills.
