The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts is one of eight faculties within Lund University and includes Malmö Art Academy, Malmö Academy of Music and Malmö Theatre Academy, also Inter Arts Center and Choral Centre South. The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts offers Bachelor and Master programs in visual art, music and drama, and various courses of different extent. The Faculty also runs third cycle (postgraduate) studies in artistic research and music education.
Specific subject description
Theatre as a field of research is based on the artistic work and the area-specific knowledge that can be extracted from such work. The subject offers opportunities for artists active in the field of theatre to reflect on and examine the practice of their art. By developing new knowledge, understanding and expertise in the field, and placing them in relation to critical and theoretical perspectives, artistic research in theatre aims to both benefit dramatic art and the learning process involved in it. The artistic research can utilise theories and methods from a broad spectrum of artistic and scientific activities.
Duties
– plan, lead and develop artistic research and research studies in theatre at the department,
– supervise doctoral students,
– represent the Theatre Academy’s artistic research and work to strengthen the department in national and international research networks,
– as subject coordinator for artistic research in theatre and a member of the Faculty Board, contribute to the strategic development of the research environment at THM,
– collaborate with third cycle programmes and networks within and outside the University, nationally and internationally,
– initiate cross-border and interdisciplinary collaborations within Lund University and with other higher education institutions,
– initiate new research and grant applications,
– conduct your own research and development work in the field, and communicate your own research in cooperation with research teams at THM, and with the academy’s teaching staff,
– work to strengthen cooperation between third cycle studies and first and second cycle studies.

Those qualified for appointment as a professor at Lund University are individuals who have:
The qualification requirements for a professorship in artistic research in theatre also include:
– holding an arts degree in the area of dramatic art, or other higher education in theatre,
– documented knowledge on theory and methodology development in artist research in theatre,
– documented expertise in higher education teaching and learning,
– significant production of artistic research,
– leadership experience, and
– good language skills in spoken and written English
Assessment criteria
For appointment as professor of artistic research in theatre, the following are considered additional qualifications.
– Very good national and international level as an artistic researcher. The requirement for international qualifications is assessed with reference to the subject specialisation’s nature and tradition.
– Documented artistic expertise.
– A clear relation between the practice of research and artistic activities.
– A doctoral degree in artistic research in theatre or other relevant discipline.
– Teaching expertise, which means a very good ability to run, develop and lead artistic education and other teaching activities at different levels.
– Experience of supervising doctoral students towards a doctoral degree, and students on artistic programmes towards artistic independence.
– Good ability to lead and develop the organisation, which entails good ability to communicate and cooperate, including interdisciplinary aspects.
– Good ability to collaborate with wider society and provide information on artistic activities and research, including the use of international networks.
– Experience of successful applications for research funding and running research projects.
– Good ability to collaborate, a committed attitude and a sense of initiative.
– Good expertise in one Scandinavian language.

Regular attendance at the workplace is a requirement.
