Subject description
The research areas for this position include networked embedded multi-core systems relevant to the Internet-of-Things and Smart Environments; availability, reliability and maintainability are key aspects to focus on. Developing modelling and simulation environments, optimization methods, design tools and runtimes for highly predictable and fault tolerant multi-core systems is central to the assignment. The type of applications targeted are data acquisition and stream processing pertinent to a wide range of cyber-physical systems with mixed-criticality requirements.

Work duties
The Embedded Systems Design group at the Department of Computer Science is looking for a project assistent in Computer Science with specialization in Embedded Systems.

  • Participate in the department’s research within the subject area,
  • Develop prototypes used for the research above,
  • Collaboration with industry and wider society,
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above.

Qualification requirements
Applicants must have:

  • MSc or equivalent qualification within the subject of the position,
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English,
  • At least two years research experience in European projects,
  • Experience in research in the area of real-time systems, on-chip networks, energy efficient and fault tolerant system design,
  • Experience with development in relevant technologies, software (C++/Java), hardware description languages (VHDL/Verilog), modelling processor architectures (e.g. RISC-V) and on-chip networks (e.g. Noxim).

Other qualifications

  • Experience with international academic research environments,
  • Experience in technical writing and publications.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms
Time-limited employment, 1 year, 100%.
