Subject description
Design of electronic circuits for very wideband wireless systems, in particular radio-frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) co-designed with analog-to-digital converters (ADCs).

Work duties
Researcher position in electrical and information technology, with a focus on Integrated Circuit Design. The main duties involved in a researcher position is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20% of working hours.

The research is in the area of integrated circuit design, targeting extremely wideband receivers. Such receivers are very important to both Electronic Warfare (EW) systems and 5G base-stations, and in this project we will cooperate with leading companies in both areas. The researcher will design RFICs in advanced silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technologies, pushing the limits of extremely wideband receivers by inventive design on both circuit and architecture level. It is important that the research results in fabricated and measured integrated circuits. Successfully measured circuits will be part of demonstrators created in cooperation with the companies.

Qualification requirements
The applicant is expected to have, or be very close to obtain (expected degree within max 9 months), a PhD degree within the subject area of the position.

Additional requirements:

  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Specialization and experience in design of analog and radio frequency integrated circuits.
  • A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research within the particular research area described above.
Other qualifications
  • Publications in analog integrated circuit design and RFIC design.
  • Courses and projects performed in analog integrated circuit design and RFIC design. Working experience in integrated circuit design and RFIC design.
  • Experience in high frequency measurements.
  • Knowledge in wireless systems.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of 1 year.

Instructions on how to apply
Applications shall be written in English. Please draw up the application in accordance with LTH’s Academic qualifications portfolio. LTH uses a special qualifications portfolio to report and document qualifications – see link below. This is to be used also for appointments of researchers.
