Researcher in Astronomy - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

We are going to fill a one year position with a qualified researcher to work within the ESA satellite project PLATO.

Tasks

Work will be carried out within the framework of WP125200 in PLATO (led by Sofia Feltzing). The work duties relates to the tasks in the work package - classical stellar parameters and the definition of the processes to derive these. There will be some time available for own research.

Supervision of master students and teaching on master- and Phd-level courses might be included.

Qualifications

We are looking for a researcher that has significant experience of high-precision elemental abundance analysis of stars of solar-type. Since the position is relatively short it is necessary that the researcher has all the specific requirements.

The researcher should be a specialist of elemental abundance analysis of stars to extreme precision levels (< 0.05 dex) including good knowledge about how stellar evolutionary effects may influence the abundance analysis (e.g., atomic diffusion). The researcher should also have experience of past or on-going projects related to elemental abundance studies of stars with and without planets. </span></p><p><span>Good scientific qualifications, e.g., in the form of well-cited publications, are a merit. Previous participation in PLATO work packages or similar missions is a requirement in order for the researcher to carry out the work. </span></p><p><span>It is desirable that the researcher has experience of supervision of students on master level.</span></p><p><span> </span></p><p></p>
