The lab handles large amounts of data and seeks a system administrator who can work with existing and future server solutions. 

Duties

The tasks include both system administration work and hardware/software support for the Humanities Lab's computers. System administration tasks in the Lab range from the configuration of physical infrastructure to the management of virtual servers. The main part of this work consist of enabling users to record, store, and access research data in a variety of scenarios. Since research projects in the lab often involve unique and sensitive data, system administration also includes management of data security, such as data backup and network security. An additional task consists of developing and maintaining a project management system for the booking of facilities, and registering and administering projects. The hardware/software tasks involve managing both personal and recording computers in the Lab.

Necessary qualifications 

The applicant

- must have good knowledge of both physical and virtual servers, especially as regards data recording, storage, and accessibility

- must have good knowledge of how physical and virtual servers are set up, maintained, backed up, and moved

- must have good knowledge of VMware ESXi, Microsoft Windows servers, Linux servers

- must have experience working with both Mac, PC and Linux computers

- must be able to communicate well in spoken and written Swedish and English

- should have an academic degree in a relevant area for the position

- should have knowledge of programming

- should have knowledge of the G-suite for education

Experience from a multi-user lab is an advantage.

Flexibility and pedagogical skills are welcome since the work requires collaboration with users at different levels of knowledge. Since the applicant will work with research and research data, we seek a meticulous and conscientious person. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
