Researcher in population genomics
We offer a research position in population genomics at the Department of Biology, Lund University. The researcher will be part of Professor Bengt Hansson’s research projects on sex chromosome evolution (50% of the position) and Professor Mats Hansson’s projects on barley genomics (50% of the position). The projects will deal with gene and gene expression differences between the sexes, and with identification of genes in barley mutants. The researcher will be working in the research groups Genetics of Sex Differences (SexGen), the Molecular Ecology and Evolution Lab (MEEL) and the Barley Mutant Group at the Department of Biology, LU. The candidate is expected to conduct high quality research and to disseminate results in international scientific publications. There will be a possibility to supervise MSc-students within the projects.

Qualifications 
We are searching for researcher with a a PhD in Bioinformatics. Candidates for the position should be creative, independent and highly motivated and should have worked with broadly with ecologically based genomics and transcriptomics projects. It is a prerequisate with experience with a suite of bioinformatics programs in genomics (including programs like allpaths-Lg, soap de novo, Spades, L-RNA scaffolder, rascaf, masurca, kmergenei, jellyfish, quake, maker, augustus, exonerate) and transcriptomics (including programs like trimmomatc, FastQC, nesoni clip, cutadapt, sickle, trinity, BED tools, CD-hit, repeat masker, CEGMA, bowtie, samtools, BWA, BUSCO, tophat, BLAST2GO, interproscan, BLAST, BLAT, IGV-tools, pfam_scan, TRANSdecoder, trinotate, KEGG, RSEM, Deseq, edgeR, limma and R-studio). The candidate should have a strong record of publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The position is a full-time employment for 24 months.

Competence
To be eligible for the position you should have successfully completed a PhD degree  in Bioinformatics. The main criteria for evaluation of candidates is scientific skills and the potential to contribute to the research profile of the group.
