Lund University hereby calls for applications for two two-year postdoc positions in cultural sciences located at the Department of Art and Cultural Sciences with specialisations in any of the department’s research nodes.

The positions have specialisations in any of the department’s research nodes. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of research within the selected research node.

The successful candidate is expected to work autonomously, but also to collaborate with other researchers within the subject. The postdoc shall participate in and contribute to the research environment, among other things by actively participating in research seminars and other research-related activities taking place at the department and thereby stimulate theoretical discussion, contribute with his or her own research in the area as well as to the joint work on initiating new research ideas. The postdoc is expected to conduct his or her research predominantly at the workplace in Lund. Teaching, supervision and other teaching-related tasks may be required within the scope of the position, but up to no more than 20% of working hours. Research-related administrative tasks such as developing and running a seminar series within the framework of the research node or administrative work related to developing a large interdisciplinary application may be included in this 20% segment.

The qualifications for employment as a postdoc are a PhD, or an international qualification deemed equivalent to a PhD, completed in the three years prior to the application deadline. If a PhD was awarded earlier than this, evidence of parental leave, illness or similar must be submitted with the application.

The position requires good English speaking and writing skills. As Swedish is the language of public administration at Lund University, the ability to speak Swedish or another Scandinavian language is desirable.

The assessment criteria include a good ability to develop and conduct research of high quality as well as teaching expertise. For appointment as a postdoc, attention is primarily given to research expertise. In order to assess the applicant’s qualifications, the applicant is to attach a research plan for the research they intend to carry out within the position. Only applicants with research plans and previous work that reinforces the research environment will be considered for the position of postdoc.

It is desirable for the applicant to have a research plan and/or previous research of clear relevance and connection to one of the current research nodes and the research profile of the Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences.

The application should include the following:

• a signed and detailed CV as well as a certified copy of the applicant’s PhD degree certificate
• a list of publications (including DOI, ISBN or ISSN numbers)
• a signed research plan with a maximum of 1500 words (excluding references) on the project the applicant intends to carry out during the period of employment
• a declaration of intent with a maximum of 500 words where the applicant is to detail their contribution to the development of the node’s research.

The research plan is to include a description of:

• the aim and issues
• theory and methodology
• the relationship to international research including the most important international work in the research area
• a schedule and expected results
• the applicant’s abilities and expertise to carry out the project.

The position is a fixed-term appointment of a maximum of two years and entails full-time hours in accordance with the agreement on fixed-term employment as a postdoc (Slutande av avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor) between the Swedish Agency for Government Employers and the employee organisations OFR/S, Saco-S and SEKO, 4 September 2008.
