The project aims to perform pre-clinical validation of dopamine neurons for cell therapy in PD,
and to optimize the conditions for graft survival and function.

The main task will be to evaluate stem cell derived dopamine neurons in well established pre-clinical
models of Parkinson’s Disease. Focus is to evaluate the cells for clinical use and to study integration
and function in the host brain. Emphasis will be on studying the role of glia.

Qualifikation

To qualify for the position the candidate should have a Phd in neuroscience or pharmacology.
Extensive experience with in vivo experiments, including stereotactic surgery
Experience with in vivo models of neurodegenerative disease
Experience with behavioral assessments
Documented experience with cell culture. Especially neurons and glia
Experience with generation and use of viral vectors
Documented experience with gene expression analysis
Ability to work well in collaborative projects

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for an employment as a postdoctoral researcher, the PhD degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a PhD in the field of employment, must be completed no more than three years before the end of the application period. If there are special reasons, the PhD may have been completed earlier.

Terms

The employment is limited to a maximum of two years employment and refers to full-time. The employment is limited by agreement, "Agreement on time-limited employment as postdoctor", between social partners dated 2008-09-04 (Arbetsgivarverket, OFRs, Saco-S and SEKO).
