The combustion engine subject mainly involves studies to improve the understanding of processes that take place inside the cylinders of an internal combustion engine. The focus is on new combustion concepts that enable high efficiency combined with low emissions, but research on more traditionally combustion technology is also included. Research methods span from thermodynamical engine experiments to advanced optical diagnostics in transparent research engines. The research subject encompasses combustion processes, fuel effects and engine Control.
