Research Engineer in Platelet Immunology - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

A new and exciting research project financed by Ionis Pharmaceuticals is starting in Professor Semple’s lab, and therefore they are in need of a research engineer. Dr Semple’s laboratory is located in the BMC of Lund University and has all the resources and equipment to carry out this project.

Work duties and areas of responsibility
The applicant will work with the start up of a project related to a murine immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) model and test the effects of oligonucleotide drugs on rescuing thrombocytopenia.  It will involve intensive monitoring of the animals and carrying out various procedures such as Saphenous vein bleeding, body temperature measurements, organ procurement and processing. This pre-clinical research is expected to lead into a translational program.  The applicant will have the ability to experience and learn experimental project design, supervision of staff and effective teaching skills.

Requirements
Required education is a PhD within the field of biological science. The applicant is expected to be independent and able to carry out the research project with minimal supervision. The applicant should be well experienced in animal (mouse) models which includes handling, manipulation (e.g. intravenous injections, cardiac punctures) and organ harvesting. Histology, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry and tissue culture are also required prerequisites.
