The International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) is an international and interdisciplinary centre of excellence at Lund University. We advance knowledge on how to catalyse the transition to low-carbon and resource efficient economies across different levels of governance and management. We conduct research across the themes of international and national policy intervention, urban governance and experimentation, business management and practice, and consumption governance.

 

Subject description

The post-doctoral candidate will work in the area of behavioural economics as applied to low-carbon and resource efficient economies. The post-doctoral candidate will contribute to the development of knowledge, experiments and policy analysis addressing consumer decision-making processes and the effects of contextual factors in sharing economy initiatives, energy use and climate mitigation action.

 

Work duties

The main duties involved in a post-doctoral posistion is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20% of working hours. The position shall include the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning.

 

The main work duties involve:

  • Conducting research and publishing within the subject area
  • Developing pre-analysis plans and carrying out experiments
  • Teaching in the first, second and third cycles of studies
  • Supervising and managing research projects and master theses
  • Disseminating research otucomes and actively seeking external research funding
  • Collaborating with industry and wider society
  • Performing administration work related to duties listed above

 

Qualification requirements

Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the last date for applications. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.

 

Additional requirements:

  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Relevant knowledge and research background in economics, behavioural economics, psychology, cognitive science and/or social sciences analysing consumer decision-making processes and decision contexts
  • Documented knowledge and experience with experiments (lab, field, choice and/or natural)
  • Proven knowledge in econometrics and statistical analysis, including specialised software (e.g. SPSS, SAS, Stata)

 

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career, and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers.

Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.

 

For appointments to a post-doctoral position, the following shall form the assessment criteria:

  • A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research.
  • Teaching skills.

 

Additional assessment criteria:

  • Familiarity with behavioural insights and public policy as applied to low-carbon and resource efficient economies
  • Capacity to publish in high-ranking scientific journals
  • Swedish language skills. Not a requirement, but can be an advantage
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary, inclusive and international research group.
  • Experience with online data collection platforms
  • Proven teaching and pedagogical skills, including supervision of Master students
  • Ability to engage with industry and society at large
  • Excellent analytical skills and capacity to understand and assimilate different research perspectives
  • Experience in organising conferences and workshops
  • Competence in policy analysis

 

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

 

Terms of employment This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of a maximum of 2 years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow”) between Lund University, SACO-S, OFR/S and SEKO, dated 4 September 2008.
