The Student Experience and Mobility Group, at the Division of External Relations, works with service and communication for international students at Lund University. With our Mentor Programme, hundreds of current students work to help new international students find their way around Lund, the University and to find a social network to enrich their time at Lund University so they feel included and integrated into the university. This includes working on Arrival Day, during the Orientation Weeks and during the semester in mentor groups. As the Mentor Coordinator, you are responsible for recruiting new mentors and would act as the main contact person for all mentors.

Your tasks may include

  • Recruitment of new students for the Mentor Program
  • Aid in the preparation of the Orientation Weeks
  • Being in charge of a few events during the Orentation Weeks in January and August
  • Lead and organize mentors on Arrival Day
  • Handle all communication with mentors
  • Monitor the quality of the mentor programme, follow-up on the progress of the programme and produce the Mentor Certificates twice a year
  • Participate in other activities for the International Desk during the semester.

It is possible to combine this position with studies. The workload varies and at different times can be quite heavy or light. This position would be held 2-3 semesters.

As a part of the team at Student Experience and Mobility, the Mentor Coordinator will have their own workspace at External Relations.

Eligibility

It is a requirement that the Mentor Coordinator is a current active student at Lund University.

Other prefered skills

Candidates should be used to moving in an international environment and bring intercultural experience with them to the workplace. Examples of this may be that they have gone on exchange or worked abroad. It is required that one has been an International Mentor at Lund University through the External Relations programme and is a plus if one has worked as a volunteer in other ways as well. To succeed as the Mentor Coordinator, one must be socially competent and enjoy working with and meeting new people.

The Mentor Coordinator’s job involves lots of work with communication and it is therefore, very important that candidates are comfortable using spoken/written English and Swedish speaking in front of large groups. Many tasks in this job are administrative meaning that planning and organizational skills are key to success. Computer skills are required, specifically work with Excel and social media.

Type of employment: “Amanuens”, 20%, during the period August 15, 2019 to August 15, 2020 with a possibility to be extended.
