Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

We seek to recruit a promising young investigator to the research group led by professor Björn Nilsson. This environment focuses on how genetic variation influences blood- and immune cell function, and how such variation influences the pathogenesis of human diseases.

He/she is expected to win own grants and establish collaborations to implement his/her research program. To help him/her succeed, coaching on topics like leadership, grantsmanship, and supervision will be provided. Some amount of teaching may be expected.

Requirements
The applicant must:

  • Have a Ph.D. in a relevant field plus substantial postdoctoral experience in relevant research fields (e.g., immunology, immunogenetics, human genetics, or human genomics).
  • Have significant experience of trans-disciplinary genomics projects, including large-scale genome-wide association studies on immunological diseases and immunological traits.
  • Have significant experience of complex research projects involving researchers at multiple institutions, including at an international level.
  • Have the potential to develop into an independent, competitive principal investigator within two years.
  • And have a vision of his/her general research direction, both in the short term and longer term, and how it will synergize with existing projects and collaborations in the environment.
  • Can demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills, and collaboration skills.
  • Can communicate well both in writing and in conversation in English

Meritorious for the position is if you:

  • Have experience of grant writing
  • Have preciously supervised students.

We will take great consideration into the personal suitability of applicants for this position.

Conditions
The first two years of the position will be funded by BloodVariome. Thereafter, he/she will need to find own funding for the position.
