The project, A New Framework for Predicting Insect Pollinator Habitat Requirements, is funded by a Research Environment Grant for interdisciplinary research from the Swedish Research Council (VR), which allows us to pursue the role of insect vision as a mediator and predictor of changes in pollinator abundance in response to global change, with an interdisciplinary team with expertise in landscape ecology, sensory biology, molecular systematics, and macroecology. Here we look for a postdoctoral candidate with expertise in landscape ecology.

Work duties
The main duty is to conduct research within the VR project, with a particular focus on landscape-ecological aspects. Thus, the postdoctor will carry out field studies and field experiments to reveal how pollinators are affected by the visual environment during their foraging. In addition, the candidate will perform advanced statistical analyses to relate the findings to information gathered in the project about the insects’ visual morphology and capacity. The candidate will also contribute to the general scientific discussion in the research group and to some teaching.

Qualification requirements
Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the last date for applications. Special circumstances might in extraordinary cases be applicable. We expect a PhD in ecology with experience in studying insects, with experience of foraging studies or landscape ecological studies being a special merit. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to produce high quality scientific papers published in international journals, and a demonstrated ability to carry out advanced statistical analyses. The working language is English and we expect excellent skills in both spoken and written English.

Eligibility
This is a qualifying appointment focused primarily on research. The position is intended as an initial step in the academic career and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their scientific merits and potential as researchers. The basis of assessment is the ability to develop and implement research of good quality and teaching ability. Particular emphasis will be given to academic skills within the subject area.
