The laboratory of RNA and Stem Cell Biology is embedded within the Lund Stem Cell Center, an internationally ranked research center within the strategic areas of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at Lund University, Scandinavia’s largest institution for education and research. Our research focuses on new post-transcriptional facets of gene expression control in stem and cancer cell at a molecular, cellular and organismal level. Specifically, we are interested in the molecular basis by which RNA modifications regulate gene expression in during development and in cancer.

WORK DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONISIBILITY

The available position entails administrative as well as research duties. The administrative tasks are: ordering/accounting, inventory of laboratory databases (DNA oligos, plasmids, antibodies, cell lines and chemicals, glassware/plasticware) and maintenance of the laboratory equipment and storage spaces. Laboratory work will include: DNA/RNA isolation, PCR and gel electrophoresis analysis, quantitative PCR (real-time qPCR), bacterial and plasmid preparation, sample preps for flow cytometry /immunofluorescence, laboratory buffers and stock solutions preparation. Other common administrative and research related work duties are also included.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor degree in Biomedical Analysis, or further education with at least 60 credit (equivalent to a Master Degree) or hold a PhD within the fields of Biology and Biochemistry with previous laboratory experience will be prioritized.
  • Strong organisational and teamwork skills are requested.
  • Excellent verbal and written Swedish and English communication skills are requested.

DESIRABLE

  • Previous experience with methods for RNA and protein analysis, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, isolation of hematopoietic cells from biological material and immunofluorescence/immunohistochemistry (IHC) are highly preferred.
  • Certified qualification for laboratory animal science research in accordance to the EU legislation is also of advantage and highly desirable for this position.
