Job description
The research project concerns collective phenomena in suspensions of swimming microorganisms, such as bacteria and algae, explored using lattice Boltzmann simulations and analytical theory. In particular, the project concerns the interplay between fluid-mediated hydrodynamic interactions and the coupling with external or internal chemical gradients, and their impact on collective behaviour.

Qualifications
PhD in theoretical physics, biophysics, physical chemistry or similar. Excellent knowledge of mathematics, computational modelling and scientific programming (e.g., Fortran, C/C++, Python) as well as excellent English proficiency are requirements. Experience with hydrodynamic modelling, particularly of colloidal and/or microbial systems, is highly desirable.
