The Stem Therapy ES/iPS Core Facility at the Lund Stem Cell Center is now looking for support staff to help with ongoing research projects. The position is a 40% fixed term appointment for one year.

The position is required because of significant increases in research using induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells in local area researcher programs. As an advanced technology service provider researchers rely on the core’s ability to generate novel iPS cell lines given that such lines  cannot easily be generated and maintained in one’s own laboratory. We would like to increase personnel to be able to offer service for the increasing numbers of scientists requesting iPS service.  We intend to expand our capabilities to include weekend work.

Work duties and areas of responsibility

Provide support to current operations at the ES/iPS core facility, namely towards the generation of novel patient specific induced pluripotent stem cell lines. The position primarily involves advanced tissue culture activities including working using sterile techniques for cell colony isolation and propagation using a variety of state-of-the-art technologies. The position requires the hired person is willing to working part time on weekends, and additional time during the regular work week (precise schedule to be discussed).

Requirements
At minimum a Master’s of Science (M.Sc.) within molecular biology, or another relevant field, is needed.

High competence in cell culture techniques is also a requirement.

Desirable
It is preferable to have experience in pluripotent stem cell culture techniques (maintenance and propagation) and experience in induced pluripotent stem cell generation.

Other
Weekend work is required. Emphasis will be held at personal suitabilities.
