The position is based at the Division of Intermedia Studies, which is part of the Department of Art and Cultural Sciences. The subject field of intermedia studies is multi- and interdisciplinary in character and work at the division therefore requires a teaching and research team with different subject-specific skills and expertise.  

Education at the division is offered from the first cycle up to and including Bachelor’s courses (comprising three semesters), as well as a number of shorter freestanding courses. The division carries out research in different areas based on intermedia theory, e.g. aesthetics, popular culture, music, literature, advertising and rhetoric, different forms of visual communication and digital media. The research and education covers both the past and the present from media and cultural theory perspectives.

The visiting researcher will take part in and contribute to the development of the research environment and its networks/contacts. The successful applicant is expected to be able to work autonomously, but also to collaborate with other researchers in the field. This includes actively participating in the research seminars and other research-related activities that take place within the subject, stimulating the theoretical discussion, and contributing with his or her own research in the area and to the joint work on initiating new research ideas.

The visiting researcher is expected to conduct his or her research primarily at the workplace in Lund. Teaching, supervision and other teaching-related tasks may be required within the scope of the position, however, up to no more than 20% of working hours. Research-related administrative tasks such as organising seminars or workshops or administrative work to develop a large research application may be included in this 20% segment of working hours.   

 

Qualifications

 

  • - A PhD within humanities
  • - A documented focus on research in intermedia theory
  • - An ability to communicate in English in speech and in writing
  • - Experience drawing up research applications
  • - Experience teaching in higher education

 Additional qualifications:

  • - Experience planning and organising conferences, symposia etc.
  • - Experience collaborating with different kinds of relevant organisations (such as schools, museums, public organisations)
  • - Connections to and contact with different intermedia and aesthetics-oriented research networks, nationally and internationally

This description should also clarify and clearly state how the applicant’s own (completed and planned) research is oriented to intermedia theory.
